Player League Agreement

BTSM LEAGUE RULES

  • Every league match is played on Saturdays, unless approved by the league organizer and coordinator.
  • Each player has to check in upon arrival with our league organizer.
  • All matches are “followed by.” The next match will start as soon as the previous match is done, therefore scheduled times are approximate. All league players are responsible to be on time for their match.
  • Only a 5 minute warm up is allowed on the league court once the match has been sent to its designated court.
  • Both teams are responsible for raking the court after the match. This will keep the courts in better shape and prevent injuries.
  • The winning team is responsible for returning all match balls to the coordinator after each match as well as reporting the final score.

FORMAT OF PLAY & LATE POLICIES

  • ITF rules of beach tennis apply for all matches.
    • Level 1, all players have to play with 1.80 net and male players have to abide by the 6m rule.
    • For all other levels, a 1.70 meter net will be used and a 6 meter rule is not required.
    • For all levels, men can serve overhand. Divisions are based on level and not gender.
  • Best of 3 sets until 6 games.
    • If the set is tied at 5-5, it goes to 7.
    • If the set is tied 6-6, the set will be determined by a tie breaker to 7 points.
    • If the teams have split sets, the 3rd set will be decided on a super tie break to 10 points.
    • All tie breakers have to be won by a minimum of 2 game difference.
  • If a player arrives 15 min later than the “followed by’ start time they will lose the first set 6-3.
  • If a player arrives 20 min later than the “followed by’ start time they will lose the match 6-3, 6-3.
  • If a player is no show, they will lose the match 6-0, 6-0.
  • Singles Matches is one 8 games pro set (6-6, goes to 8; 7-7 tie break to 7 points)
  • Singles matches are optional, please at the beginning of each edition inform the league organizer if you want to join. The singles matches are included in your league entry fee.

RESCHEDULING

  • Each player can reschedule a match one time per edition. A rescheduled match request must be made prior to 11AM on the Wed before your scheduled match. After that, it will be considered a “no show” with a score of 6-0, 6-0 loss for the player who can no longer play.
  • Each edition will have two available dates for rescheduling matches, the first Wed and Sat after each edition is over.
  • Players requesting the reschedule must email btsantamonica@gmail.com AND text the BTSM number +1(213)585.5917.
  • BTSM has the right to schedule the “reschedules” during the designated league if a player is available rather than waiting for the make up dates at the end of each edition.

SUBSTITUTES

  • All players in the league are allowed to have one SUB per edition.
    • EXCEPTION: If a player suffers a long term injury, or unable to play because of reasons beyond their control, the remaining player can choose a permanent replacement who is of the same level or lower.
  • SUB players have to be of the same level or lower and approved by the BTSM league coordinator and organizer.

RANKING IN THE LEAGUE

  • The ranking in the league is decided by:
    1. Total amount of matches won
    2. Total amount of sets won minus the total amount of sets lost
    3. Total amount of games won minus the total amount of games lost
    4. Head to Head result

DETERMINATION OF DIVISIONS

  • Divisions of the league are based on results of the players and teams from the previous season.
  • The top two teams of each level (with exception of the level 1) will be promoted to one level up
  • The bottom two teams of each level (with the exception of the level 5) will be relegated to one level down
  • If a player skipped an edition, the result of the last league played will be used for calculating points. If a player misses more than one edition, the player will be relegated one division every two editions missed.
  • In all other cases, players need to start in the lower division, unless decided otherwise by BTSM coordinator, Carolina Hannes.

REFUNDS

  • No refunds are issued after the Wed before the first weekend of each edition.
